BE STILL AND KNOW THIS WORLD IS NOT YOUR HOME

BE STILL AND KNOW THIS WORLD IS NOT YOUR HOME

Be still and know this world isn’t home

There is something deeply biblical in this statement.  To be still, to not become attached, to be present, to not build your identity on temporary things.

Psalm 46:10 (ESV)
“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Stillness is not quitting. It is releasing the need to control what only God can carry.

Scripture gives us this perspective:

Hebrews 13:14 (ESV)
“For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.”

Philippians 3:20 (ESV)
“...our citizenship is in heaven…”

This doesn’t mean that this life has no value. On the contrary, while this life is not the final chapter it is possible to live like Heaven on earth.

Even when the world feels heavy, even when people disappoint, even when success feels emptier than expected, and especially when your heart quietly whispers, “There must be more to life than this.”

That longing often becomes a compass, not to escape life, but rather to point us in the right direction.

Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

You see, you can plant gardens here and still know this isn’t your permanent address. Because what you seed today will feed tomorrow.

You can love deeply here and still know eternity is greater. Because true love begins but has no end.

And you can work, create, serve, write, heal, build, and still keep your eyes lifted. Because keeping your eyes on Jesus is the only thing keeping you in the quiet eye of the storm.

So today the invitation is to be still. God is not rushed, He is faithful. And so should we be. This season is not forever, it is for but a time, so remain anchored, because home is not lost ⇒ it is promised.

Declare these truths today: “I will not let temporary things define eternal truth.  I will rest in God, walk in obedience, and remember that my hope is not confined to the limitations of this world.
